VENUS CUP

In East Africa, where 65% of teenage girls and young women drop out of school due to the lack of menstrual supplies, many are unable to afford tampons or pads even if available in stores. Faced with the choice between buying supplies or having food, the decision is clear – food takes precedence. Consequently, attending school during their period becomes impossible. This results in missed schooldays, preventing these girls from completing their education and leading to a serious, often life-long disadvantage, despite their ambition and motivation.
The menstrual cup, a solution present since the 1950s, proves ideal for addressing this challenge. Recognizing this, Social Arc Films has partnered with Brenda and her organization, Chance at Education, in 2020 to create a documentary highlighting the lives of these young girls and the transformative impact of Venus Cups.
